Welcome to Cereal Killer Jigs

Hello and welcome to Cereal Killer Jigs Blog Page. My Name is Darren, Owner/operator of Cereal Killer Jigs. I am a mid-western boy originally from Iowa who moved to Georgia in 2008 and presently in North Mississippi since late 2013. I fished and hunted from a young age, learning all i know from my dad. Upon moving to Mississippi, i had never seen single pole or spider rig fishing for crappies. Slip bobber and Mepps fishing lures were how we caught crappies in the Mid West. Once in Mississippi, i was educated by a couple fellows on how to single pole and spider rig and it went from there. From 2 poles off a tackle box at the front of my boat to a fully outfitted 8 pole spider rod rig outfit, 12 12' to 16' crappie rig rods and Garmin Live Scope. After 3 years, i figured with the amount of gear i could lose on a given day fishing timber, brush piles and rocks, it was time to start making my own lures. At first it was making hair jigs and crappie lure bodies for the weekend i was home, but soon turned into passion to make something that not only i liked, but something others would like that was also made in the U.S.A. At most times i would hand out packs of lures at the dock or ramp when others noticed the colors i was making that they liked. Then i started selling small at first as the job I had had me on the road a couple months at a time with no way to make them. I then decided to leave my job as a commercial roofer of 31 years in May 2024 to devote my passion to a full time business of making crappie lures. The name was brought about after more than a dozen names were thought up, but nothing stuck. Then with the wife's passion for murder-mystery, crimes and passion and serial killers, the name was born with a twist- " Cereal Killer Jigs. Now days to make your business stand out you must have a lot of different dynamics and your business name is one of them. For the past 3 months since leaving my full time job, i have devoted to taking my business 5 steps higher than it was to having a website, better branding , better packaging and adding on bass lures as a few of the workers i dealt with are bass fisherman out of Florida and what better way to find out if your lures compare than having them fish them. My product is spread from testers and customers from Iowa, Florida, Mississippi, California and Ohio. And as a fisherman myself, i use my own gear. So thanks for stopping by and looking at the page and if you read the blog, let me know what you think, what you would like to learn or know.
