how to fish fluctuating water levels.

Fishing different types of water from clear, mid range or muddy is usually just a change in color and speed. But what about fluctuating water levels. When water comes into a water shed like lakes, rivers, creeks or ponds, fish fluctuate with those water levels. When water rises, fish will move up shallow as they follow bait that have moved up with the rising water. Areas to fish cant be flooded brush, trees, tree stumps or any thing that is of cover for fish. if the trees and brush are in or under water, fish as close to the brush as possible as the cover is security for fish. It may be harder to get close with a boat, but another way is wading in the flooded area where you can slowly move picking and prodding each piece of cover you find. Now on the other hand, falling water will cause the fish to move back toward deeper water near cover, channels, ledges or drops. Alot of the water movement helps bait fish escape to other places but bigger will fish follow. Now on the other hand , low water is hard on both for reasons of smaller areas for both to live in. Winter time is one of those times where both can happen especially here in the south. Scoping deep holes or flats will show how many fish congregate in deeper holes along with bait fish.
